When Lehman Brothers filed bankruptcy this week, Lehman Brothers Middle East employees looked to Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC ) to extend their permits allowing them to stay in Dubai. DIFC Governor, Omar bin Sulaiman said they would not be asked to leave or face deportation. However, immigration officials said the workers and their families have 30 days to vacate.
Foreign workers require a residency and work permit issued by their company to remain in the country.
